Newly Launched Climate Legacy Commitment Unites Top MBA Candidates For Climate Action

New initiative is uniting the top global community of business leaders to integrate sustainability and climate change solutions into the heart of how businesses are operated. The initiative called the Climate Legacy Commitment was launched on March 11th by two Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates, Collin G. Janich and Peter Golding. 

The Climate Legacy Commitment is a pioneering initiative designed to mobilize leading MBA candidates across the globe to address the climate challenge, firstly by taking a landmark climate pledge to recognize climate change’s pervasive impacts and integrate sustainability into their business leadership.

Newly Launched Climate Legacy Commitment Unites Top MBA Candidates For Climate Action

The mission of the enterprise is to unite top MBA talent, the leaders of tomorrow, to lay the foundation of the next generation of business management where corporate success and sustainability are mutually inclusive and inseparable. By uniting top MBA talent with fellow change-makers and industry mentors, the initiative aims to foster a community dedicated to impactful climate action.

All signatories are taking a pledge where they commit to drive sustainable change and innovation across the industries they work in. The pledge is not formally binding but a voluntary declaration, signaling to peers, future employers, and the wider business community they are dedicated to combating climate change and are willing to be held accountable by fellow change-makers.  

Currently, 15 MBA programs are participating in the initiative – 7 programs from the U.S. and 8 European programs. Invited to join are MBA peers from the following schools: 

  • In the U.S. – Columbia Business School; Harvard Business School; MIT: Sloan; Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management; Stanford Graduate School of Business; University of Chicago: Booth; University of Pennsylvania: Wharton.
  • In Europe – BS4CL: HEC Paris; IE Business School; IESE Business School; IMD – International Institute for Management Development; Insead; London Business School; University of Cambridge: Judge; University of Oxford: Saïd.

The participating programs and their signatories come in within less than a week after launching, with more than 45% of the Cambridge MBA class having signed the pledge. People taking part in the pledge will be supported by exclusive access to specialized content, workshops, and sector-specific forums, networking opportunities with peers, industry leaders, and experts to foster collaboration and climate innovation.
